Abhyanga Warm Oil Massage at Blossom Wellness Clinic in Orangeville, Ontario. Warm Manjula oil and gentle, rhythmic strokes across the scalp, body and face, in an Ayurvedic tradition that is slower and more continuous than a typical treatment massage. The scalp oil is rich, so this is best booked on a day you plan to wash your hair.
Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic practice: warmed oil applied with long, rhythmic strokes. Our booking page describes the appointment as covering the scalp, body and face, using Manjula oil.
It is provided by a Registered Massage Therapist and billed as massage therapy. Because the scalp is included and the oil is rich, most people book it on a hair-wash day and wear something they do not mind getting oil on.
Registered Massage Therapy is the profession; these are different appointment types within it, not three separate regulated professions. All are provided by a Registered Massage Therapist, all begin with a conversation about what you want from the session, and all are billed the same way. They differ in technique and in how the session feels, not in how strong they are. Abhyanga is chosen for its warmth and rhythm rather than for firm pressure, so if there is a specific area you want worked on, one of the others may suit you better.
Assessment first, then treatment directed to the areas and pressure you ask for, with Kamalpreet Kandhola. 45–90 min, $105–$175.
