Hot Stone + Hot Oil Massage at Blossom Wellness Clinic in Orangeville, Ontario. Smooth heated stones and warm oil are worked over the back, shoulders and legs, and the warmth is part of the treatment rather than a substitute for pressure. Provided and billed as massage therapy.
Smooth basalt stones are heated in water to a controlled temperature and then used two ways — placed along the body, and held by the therapist as an extension of the hands. Warm oil is used alongside them so the stones glide.
Many people who find firm pressure too intense prefer this format. Stone temperature is checked before contact and can be adjusted, and the stones can be set aside if you would rather they were not used.
Registered Massage Therapy is the profession; these are different appointment types within it, not three separate regulated professions. All are provided by a Registered Massage Therapist, all begin with a conversation about what you want from the session, and all are billed the same way. They differ in technique and in how the session feels, not in how strong they are. Hot stone uses warmth as part of the treatment. That is a different experience from firm hands-on work, not a substitute for it — if you want deep pressure, say so, or book the standard appointment.
Assessment first, then treatment directed to the areas and pressure you ask for, with Kamalpreet Kandhola or Carly McArthur. 45–90 min, $105–$175.
Warm Manjula oil and long, rhythmic strokes over scalp, body and face, with Carly McArthur. 60–90 min, $150–$200. The scalp oil is rich, so it suits a hair-wash day.
